Acadia National Park & Old Quebec City

Visiting the Northeast has been on our travel bucket list for a while. We originally planned to go out west this summer, but changed our mind. It was a good decision because our potential destination ended up covered in forest fires.

We took our RV and road tripped from the Southeast all the way to Maine. We stopped in Kittery and grabbed some food at the Weathervane and then onto the Saco / Old Orchard Beach KOA to explore some lighthouses.

Then onward to Bar Harbor. We had a great campsite near the water across the bridge from Acadia National Park at Narrows Too. We grabbed lobster rolls and clam chowder at Down East Lobster Pound a few times.

The first day we explored Cadillac Mountain and had a picnic on top the mountain.

The next day we hiked around the restaurant Jordan Pond House and Jordan Pond. The kids loved picking and eating the wild blueberries. Even though we planned to hike the all the way to the end of the pond, we stopped part of the way through. Once the boardwalk ended, the path was covered with large boulders and rocks which made for hard walking with a 2 year old.

Traveling to the south side of the island gave us beautiful seashores and ocean views.

From there, we packed up and headed north across the Canadian border to stay at the Quebec City KOA Holiday. The next day we took the ferry across the St. Lawrence River to Old Quebec City. The city is very old, and while we were visiting, they had a museum open in the underground section they were excavating.

Moving away from the river, the city gets progressively newer. We spent so much time walking around looking at the old buildings, visiting the boutiques, and seeing the large squares.

One of our favorite things was to look at all the old, historic churches. They were amazingly detailed.

One of the most iconic buildings in Old Quebec is the Fairmont Le Château Frontenac. The space around the hotel is beautiful with grassy area, old cannons, and walkways.. We spent some time just relaxing and letting the youngest one run off some energy.

As the day faded, we discovered so many beautiful streets lit up with string lights and murals.

We finished the day by grabbing supper at the Q-de-Sac Resto-Pub. We had some delicious food - beef tips , gourmet mac n cheese with greens, deer meat nachos, and brownies with ice cream.

We truly enjoyed both the time and the food.

The next day, we headed north and spent the day exploring Parc National de la Jacques-Cartier.

It was a truly wonderful trip!
