While we chose to start homeschooling 18 years ago, it was always a choice. During Covid-19, every family in the United States and possibly the world became a homeschool family. While I have had years to learn and gain experience, it can be overwhelming if you are just starting.
So, I wanted to put together my favorite resources, as well as some new ones I have learned about, to help all the moms and dads who are struggling right now. Now is a great time to do some unit studies (short concentrated studies about 1 subject). It can also be good to reinforce and practice the skills they have learned this year.
To keep things simple, most of these homeschool options are online and freestanding. You won’t need to do much with lesson plans; you can just choose something and start. Most of the classes are short, lasting only a few weeks or asynchronous, meaning they can be started at anytime. While some of these are full homeschool curriculum, many are free online homeschool programs that allow you to use just the subject area that you need the most.
