Banff National Park
As part of our trip to Glacier National Park, we also spent a few days visiting some of the national parks in Canada. We headed north out of Montana. Our first park was Kootenay National Park. On the way there, we spent miles driving by the beautiful Kootenay river. Because of the snow melt, the river is a beautiful ice blue color
We stopped at a small area and ate a picnic and took a small walk.
Near Radium, we passed through Sinclair Canyon and stopped and looked around at the cliffs and the river. Amazing!
From here, we drove to Banff National Park and to the stunning Lake Louise. The snow melt and glacial water gives it such a pretty blue color. We walked past the chateau on the lakeshore trail and hiked up to where the snow melt was entering the lake. (You could also go on to the tea house from here, but it was closed by the time we would have arrived)
When we reached the end of the lake, we turned around to look at the chateau and saw a rainbow!
At the very end of the lake, the streams were filled with snow melt which was running into the lake. Above our heads, we could hear the ice falls crashing.
We then drove to nearby Moraine Lake because we heard it was an amazing turquoise color. It didn’t disappoint!
The next day we drove to Waterton Lakes National Park. We spent time walking around the beautiful 1920’s Print of Wales lodge and taking photos of the mountain and lakes.
